Yard Maintenance Technician

The ideal Yard Maintenance Technician will assist with upkeeping of the company’s property and repairs of the company’s ground support vehicles and equipment.
Duties/ Responsibilities:
- Repairs and services mowers, edgers, weed-whackers, tractors, and service vehicles.
- Maintains heavy equipment that includes hydraulic, pneumatic, and electrical machinery.
- Inspects ground support vehicles and equipment to determine whether repairs are needed.
- Troubleshoots issues or problems with vehicles and machinery as necessary to make repairs.
- Schedules periodic maintenance for ground support vehicles and equipment.
- Maintains a clean and safe property yard and repair shop.
- Tracks inventory of parts and tools needed for repairs and maintenance.
- Maintains repair log for vehicles and equipment.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
Required Skills/Abilities:
- Requires a valid Driver’s License and Good Driving Record.
- Ability to use hand tools and power tools to repair ground support vehicles and equipment.
- Ability to read repair manuals for various types of vehicles and equipment.
- Excellent mechanical repair skills.
Education and Experience:
- HS Diploma or GED Equivalent
- 2+ years’ experience as a grounds/yard maintenance person, preferably in construction.
- Ability to acquire and maintain port and base access.
Physical Requirements:
- Must be able to lift up to 40 pounds at times.
- Ascending or descending ladders, stairs, scaffolding, ramps, poles, and the like.
- Exposure to construction and marine site dangers.
- Repeating motions that may include the wrists, hands and/or fingers.
- Operating motor vehicles or heavy equipment.
- Ability to see and respond to dangerous situations.
- Ability to respond quickly to sounds and handle noisy environments.
- Able to traverse all areas of the jobsite in all types of weather; this may require walking, climbing, reaching, bending, crawling, or stretching.
